Beyond the Kingdom designs.

I put together two rough sketches of the world beyond the Kingdom, one where most of the wastelands can be seen, and the other of the woods.

These then turned into watercolour images, and I used pen to highlight characters in the scenes.

Kingdom/Castle Designs

This was my first initial idea for the kingdom, a hill with a beautiful castle on top surrounded by a village. From this watercolour I went on to make a large watercolour, seen below.

I decided from this, that I didn't want the Kingdom to look this beautiful and full of life. I wanted it with less colour, and the castle much more stylised to fit the look of the village. I threw a sketch together (See below) which I was really happy with, and the design process went from there.

I began designing the castle more in depth, (below right) and then put together a rough sketch for a large watercolour. (below left)

This is my final design for the kingdom, in a large watercolour image. There is not much life here, with dead plants and mud throughout. Behind the castle is the chasm in the ground preventing the darkness from entering the Kingdom.

Roscoe and Conrad Final Design Watercolours

I decided to change the final design for Roscoe slightly, to distinguish him from other Elk. He has his own unique tack with an 'R' engraved in his martingale. He also has a broken antler from a past battle. His markings are also unique to him, with two front socks and a mark on his head.

This is another watercolour of Conrad, showing his colouring and personality.

Generic Character Designs

These are some designs for Villagers and Soldiers found in the Kingdom.

Royal Family Development

After completing Ivys design, I began planning the looks of her mother and father.  Below are developmental sketches of the King and Queen.

Wizards House Development & Final Designs

This was my first design sheet for ideas for the Wizards house. I chose one, second row from the bottom on the right, to begin experimenting with.

This experimentation led to this design of the house being created. As Liam is making it in 3D I couldn't create something too outrageous, but this was a good mix of unusual and realistic.

I then had to create a floor plan of the house, so Liam could decide which rooms to model.

When texturing began, I played around with different colours, in the end choosing this combination.

This is a small rough sketch of the main room, which Liam will be modeling.

This is a neater version of the interior of the room.

An Asset list, containing all items found in the main room.
